Work In Progress: Kwazii the Octonaut

Lil Miss loves the Octonauts. She couldn't like the quaint lil penguin or proud polar bear, nope, she loves the pirate cat in bright orange fur! Thank goodness I seem to have an appropriately coloured ball of yarn. Every moment I steal to get a row completed she chants "Kwazii!", she is pretty excited that there is a head and a body and tells me he needs arms. Luckily that's what I am working on now.

I love amigurumi but I loathe making more than two parts! Unfortunately all the funnest amigurumi consist of multiple parts all smooshed together in crochet one-ness. Looks like I have to overcome my weakness of dropping my WIP in order to get Kwazii complete before my Lil Miss gets over her Kwazii childhood crush. Nothing like a deadline to get the crochet hook flying!

I'm keeping notes on how I am making Kwazii, using shapes from tutorials and modifying stitches to get the right design. By the end I think I will have a completely unique pattern for this adventurous pussy cat! My very first crochet amigurumi pattern, very exciting!

Talk like a pirate day

Talk like a pirate day and I tell my husband he should stay home and hang out rather than go to work.

I say "You could be my pirate captain!" ~ He smiles
I say "I'll be your saucy wench!" ~ He grins
I run off to the kitchen and return with the tomato sauce and say "A very saucy wench" ~ He bursts into laughter but still had to go to work!
